The ripple effect of feng shui.
I’ve been watching a lot of Queer Eye lately. The positivity and rebirth that happens on that show gives me hope in humanity. Especially now. It has become my new palate cleanser because you can only watch Friends and Schitt’s Creek so many times, friends.
In an early episode, Bobby Berk (the design one) said, “People that are happy in their homes… it spills into the rest of their lives.”
That line slapped me in the face. Heck yea it does. I couldn’t have said it better myself.
When you are sitting in clutter, a mess, or a space that is just plain sad - guess what you are? You’re cluttered in your mind. You’re kind of a mess (said with love and compassion, of course). And I bet you’re sad. How do you dig yourself out of a hole when your place is, well, a hole? You can’t.
Patterns of scarcity, lack, denial, guilt, and shame… they all show up in your physical space. Whether it’s your home or your office, your space is telling on you.
If you want real change in your life, it starts by addressing the spaces you spend time in. I’d also argue that pairing this work with joyful movement makes it even more powerful. Yoga, walking, stretching, dancing, running, skipping, swimming—anything that gets energy moving in your body. Stuck energy in your space plus stuck energy in your body? Not the vibe we want for big shifts.
Here’s a simple reflection exercise you can do right now:
Which room or area is your favorite? Describe why. Use words for how it feels.
Which room or area is your least favorite? You know the one you avoid. Describe that too.
Now take your words about your favorite space and add “I am” in front of each. The spaces you love reflect what you already love about yourself.
Then take your words about your least favorite space and add “I am” in front of those. These reveal the shadowy sides, the edges we’d rather avoid. Don’t fear them. The shadow is often where the magic and medicine live.
Your home is your mirror. Accepting what is, and getting inspired by what is possible, creates the right conditions for you to feel good, go after big desires, or both. That ripple effect? It spreads into every area of life.
When you shift the energy in your home and body, people feel it. Friendships, love, money, new jobs, collaborations, opportunities—they start lining up. My teacher AGP says, “You can’t make high vibe magic in a low vibe space.” And I couldn’t agree more.
